Turns out USB-C is fine, and we're all adopting it apparently.

Add a modern, universal charging jack that works with all USB power supplies. Charge your Android, then your 3DS on the same charger. Almost all rechargeables are moddable, here's some for example:

USB A-to-C Cables? C to C cables?

At Sagebrush Repair, we know schematics, traces, and exactly where to attach a 5.1k ohm resistor to enable 5V from any dumb, smart, data cable or PD device.

Meaning: if it's USB-C, it'll charge.
